Database Performance Consultant

HiveLive is growing, and the required scale is presenting interesting and challenging demands upon our real-time application data store. We are looking for a part-time experienced DBA or database system architect, to periodically help us with schema and query optimization, clustering design and replication strategies.

Responsibilities

• Review application schema and make recommendations for design enhancements
• Participate in DB load testing to identify bottlenecks and devise solutions
• Assist in evolving the schema to support growing scale include relational database solutions to improve performance
• Analyze requirements and design database replication/clustering solutions for a heavy distributed read/write application
  

Essential Qualifications

• 8-10 years proven industry experience creating and enhancing high-load database solutions for enterprises
• Training and certification as a DBA
• Expert-level experience in MySQL technologies in Unix environments
• Experience optimizing database performance of complex object-oriented PHP applications
• Diverse experience with other enterprise RDBMS like Oracle, Sybase, DB2 etc
• Great communication skills, able to learn new environment quickly
• Great writing skills – experience creating quality documentation

Desired Qualifications

• Experience Participated in teams using Agile development processes (Scrum, XP, etc.).
