Company History

HiveLive was founded in 2006 by John Kembel and Geoff Kembel, both Stanford graduates with backgrounds in engineering and design.

John and Geoff recognized a need for a dynamic way to connect people and information, and formed a vision of a new kind of social software - software that would give members the freedom to share anything with anyone at any time.

So, John left his Ph.D. program at Carnegie Mellon, Geoff quit his web consulting practice, and together they headed to Boulder, Colorado. There, they went to work developing a social software platform uniquely suited to enterprise communities - an integrated, flexible, people-powered platform that is the only one of its kind, a platform that combines social and information networks into a unified solution.

In just a short time, the company has grown in size and scope, but the goal remains the same: to develop software that helps our clients create vibrant enterprise communities that foster innovation, creativity, loyalty, and trust.

At our company headquarters in Boulder, we now recruit and challenge some of the best software talent around. We believe we have the industry's premier social software platform, and invite you to draw the same conclusion.

"Web 2.0 represents a fundamental shift towards a more open, flexible, and participatory model for creating content, systems and business models. Its application can reduce costs, enhance adaptability, and create new business opportunities."

- "Emerging Trends and Technologies Research Meeting" by David Cearley of Gartner Group. December 2005
