Tigers Win HiveLive's Community Design Challenge

Boulder, Colorado, December 9, 2008 - HiveLive™, Inc., a leading enterprise social software platform provider, today announced that it has awarded a free online community to Conservation International - the winner of HiveLive's inaugural Community Design Challenge - on behalf of wild tigers.

With a coalition of partners, Conservation International will use the online community to host The Tiger Challenge, which aims to engage the world in its campaign to save wild tigers. The Tiger Challenge will initiate an unprecedented global conversation to generate solutions for wild tigers - the world's favorite animal, according to a worldwide poll. The community also will host a contest inviting people to devise new, more effective ways to stop tiger poaching and trade on the black market and to reverse the decline of their numbers in the wild, which have plummeted to 4,000 from their historic high of 100,000.

“Millions of dollars and decades of effort have been invested in tiger conservation, but wild tiger numbers continue to fall precipitously,” said Conservation International's Judy Mills, who moderates a global coalition against tiger trade. “However, tigers can make a comeback if the world acts now. The Tiger Challenge aims to build public and political passion and action to save the king of the jungle and all of the wild animals and plants it represents.”

HiveLive's LiveConnect™ platform will be used to build the online community for The Tiger Challenge. LiveConnect offers a flexible building-block approach to creating custom-fit online customer communities. Web 2.0 building blocks called hives combine people, information, and permissions to create flexible social media applications. Hives can be configured as a familiar application - a blog, a wiki, or a forum - or as a custom application. The building block approach also allows the community to grow organically and evolve as membership expands and changes.

“We're very pleased to have the opportunity to support Conservation International in building an innovative community to crowd-source ideas to save the tiger,” said John Kembel, CEO of HiveLive. “Using our flexible platform, they'll be able to create the unique community they envision to directly support their cause, one that will evolve and adapt as the community and its actions grow and change.”
